Villacana was designed in the 1960s by Miguel Oliver after the style of a typical Andalusian "white town" or pueblo blanco, for a Canadian development company. They chose the name of the urbanisation and selected the logo of a Canadian maple leaf with the red and yellow of the Spanish national flag in diagonal form. Although Villacana is now managed by the Community of Owners, the original name and emblem have been retained.
