La Heredia, nestled in the foothills of the Ronda Mountains enjoys outstanding views including Los Arqueros Golf, the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and the North African coastline. These spectacular vistas are to be enjoyed by day and night. The picturesque Pueblo was the vision of Francisco Parlade in the early 1980´s whose dream it was to create a village that would be admired and leave visitors wondering for how many centuries it had stood. Thus La Heredia was created in an authentic Andalucian style with meandering cobbled streets, plazas, viewing points and over 200 unique properties with antique doors and wrought iron railings. The urbanisation has two community swimming pools, a restaurant, panaderia/delicattesen, butchers/bodega, bar and the La Heredia Real Estate office. This idyllic village offers 24 hour security to it residents.
El Madroñal is a gated urbanisation, with 24 hour security, bordering on La Heredia where you will find private villas surrounded by cork and pine trees. El Madroñal has a long association with celebrities, having once been the home of Audrey Hepburn and Madeleine Caroll. More recently Peter Andre has been seen vacationing in El Madroñal. Magnificent vistas are to be enjoyed in this haven of tranquility including the countryside, mountains and the sea. El Madroñal is the perfect spot for relaxation and just 10 minutes from San Pedro and Puerto Banus.
La Zagaleta Golf and Country Club is surrounded by 900 hectares of serene, mountainous countryside. A wonderful estate surrounded by nature but with the benefits of equestrian facilities, two golf courses and fishing as well as a club house and even a helipad.
The site was originally owned by Henry Roussell, father to Thierry Roussell, the husband of Cristina Onassis. The estate was then purchased by Adnan Khashoggi, one time worlds richest men. After his fall from grace for arms dealing the estate was confiscated and then purchased in the late eighties by its current owner, with a clear vision of creating one of the finest and secure residential developments within Europe.
Security and privacy are of prime concern to the residents of La Zagaleta and therefore it is impossible to enter the estate without an appointment or permission from an owner. There are only two points of access into the estate, both of which are manned by armed guards and additionally there is a 24 hour patrol.
La Zagaleta featured in an ITV documentary by Piers Morgan on the Costa del Sol in which he marvelled at the luxury.
Benahavis pueblo is renowned for being the gastronomic capital of Andalucia, where you can choose from simple tapas such as is to be found in Bodeguita El Chico or a more hearty meal offered by Los Abanicos or Rufinos both of which have long been popular choices for residents and holiday makers alike. On the outskirts of the pueblo are apartment complexes and golf courses.
The Town Hall (Ayuntamiento) for the Benahavis municipality is located in a new purpose built building in the main street in Benahavis.
