The British Embassy in Madrid is warning home owners who let their properties that they can face large fines unless they adhere to the Spanish rental laws.

The Embassy says it has been informed that owners have received fines of up to 30,000 Euros after being caught renting holiday accommodation without the appropriate permits. The Embassy also points out that the regulations on renting vary depending on the region and therefore suggest seeking independent legal advice and checking local laws with your town hall.
